UNYA ACT Year 9-10 Conference
Every year, UNYA ACT holds its Year 9-10 Conference, an exciting day forum which sees delegates in Years 9 and 10 participate in a range of activities, including representing allocated member nations in a mock General Assembly debate. The Year 9-10 Conference is traditionally held in October at Radford College's TB Millar Hall. The conference is geared towards students enjoying themselves, having fun, meeting new people, while at the same time learning about the objectives and ideals of the UN, experiencing how it functions and gaining an understanding of its role in the modern world. It is advisable that delegates do some preliminary reading on their country, although extensive research is not expected. The conference is not only extraordinarily fun, but opens the eyes of participants to a large variety of important global issues, as well as developing useful public speaking and critical thinking skills. Past Convenors: 2009: Laura Birchall and Emily Stirzaker 2008: Sarah Bradbury and Lisa Buffinton 2007: Anthony Antioch and Paulette Lo 2006: Simon Drake and Beth Gunningham 2005: Greg Legge and Holly Orkin 2004: Marija Taflaga and Duncan Ragg 2003: Simone Gubler |
