UNYA ACT Conferences
UNYA ACT organises four major conferences for students in the ACT and surrounding regions each year: ![]() The Territory Conference is UNYA ACT's flagship event. it is a two-day conference for high school students in Years 9 to 12 involving interactive educational activities and a mock General Assembly. Each year, a group of students are selected from this conference to represent the ACT at the National Youth Conference in July. The Kofi Annan Shield is a mock Security Council competition, also for high school students, who compete in teams of two. The winners and runners-up of Kofi have the opportunity to represent the ACT at the prestigious Evatt Trophy, the largest national schools debating competition in the country. The Global Poverty Summit is an day-long conference focussing on the pertinent issue of poverty in the modern world. The summit introduces students to the various complexities of this significant contemporary challenge and provides an environment in which solutions may be discussed and debated. The Year 9-10 Conference is an educational day forum, somewhat unsurprisingly for students in Years 9 and 10. Held in October each year, the conference centers on a theme of international significance and involves various discussion groups and a mock General Assembly (as well as the famous pizza lunch). |
