Global Poverty Summit 2010: Sign-Up Today!
On Friday 19 March, UNYA ACT will be holding an interactive educational day forum for ACT students. This event, the Global Poverty Summit, will bring together students in Years 8 to 12 for a day of discussion and debate on the issue of global poverty and international development, particularly in relation to the Millenium Development Goals. Registrations for the summit are now open and may be completed by following this link here. Territory Conference 2010: Register Now! UNYA ACT's flagship annual event, the Territory Conference, will be held this year from May 7-9 at the Greenhills Conference Centre in the Cotter. Focusing on the theme of 'International Peace and Security', the two-and-a-half-day residential conference will involve a plethora of exciting social and educational activities. Registrations for the conference are now open to all students in Years 9 to 12 in the ACT and surrounding NSW. Simply follow the link below to sign up as a delegate! Hurry because places are limited. ![]() Year 9-10 Conference 2009 Held on Friday 30 October 2009, the annual Year 9-10 Conference saw almost 110 delegates come together for a day of engaging activities, including interactive discussion groups and workshops and a mock General Assembly debate. Students received pencil cases enclosing some lovely paraphernalia and were treated to a pizza lunch as well as a massive blue UNYA cake. Thanks to all who participated in this truly excellent day! The grand final of UNYA ACT's annual mock Security Council debating competition, the Kofi Annan Shield, was held in the Main Committee Room of Parliament House on Saturday 11 September 2009. Radford and St Clare's jointly won the competition, with Girls' Grammar placing as runners-up. Congratulations to each of the 30 teams who were involved! Annual General Meeting 2009 The 2009 AGM of United Nations Youth Association of the ACT division was held on Thursday 4 June. The Executive for 2009-2010 was elected at this meeting, and can be viewed in the Executive section of the website. |
